For example, Gems placed in weapons tend to increase your damage output, while ones placed in armor increased life or resistance to certain elements. When inspecting a Gem, you can highlight it to see that it will imbue gear with different kinds of bonuses depending on the type, quality, and which gear the Gem is placed in.
